Sunrise 3 - DUBBO to COBAR

Our included pre-breakfast tour began hand feeding King Julian, the Ring Tailed Lemur, before having to “Move it, Move it” to the gorgeous female King Cheetah, a grand dame of 90 years who enjoyed her morning treat of chicken necks and small children shitting us on the tour.

The last stop was a heart warming privilege of seeing a mother elephant and her calf enjoying their daily feed, wash and pedicure.

Our Dubbo Zoofari experience culminated with a hearty breakfast and our goodbyes to a stellar group of professional and inspiring individuals who we cannot speak of highly enough. If ever you’re in Dubbo, do yourself a favour, and help save the animal world through this magical experience.

Pith helmet and elephant gun in hand, we trekked through Dubbo to hunt down the elusive Dan Murphy to replicate the deliciously addictive White Rhino cocktail. Successful, we continued onto Narromine to fuel up Morrison our camper van - I mean really, what other Van do you know of - and didn’t need to turn the wheel for the next 100 km.

Arriving at Cobar we detoured slightly to Meralda Station for an off grid night of secluded bush camping. We were soon greeting by the property owner who’s penchant for a chat was rivalled only by this ability to roll a cigarette whilst seemingly never putting down his third XXXX gold. Dick was born and bred on these lands and a wealth of knowledge and hospitality. The yabby filled dams soon echoed with the cacophony of frogs as the first sunset on tour was painfully interrupted by the ever increasing cloud.

As golden hour approached, the clouds remained vexing and whilst not the best sunset for photographers, the kaleidoscopic blue hour colours bode well for our next sunset shoot 500km further west.

In honour of Winston the White Rhino, we replicated the aforementioned cocktail under the canopy of a million stars and 1,200 Elon Musk satellites. With a photographers pursuit of perfection, we diligently made a second ensuring the recipe was in fact right.
