Who is Fatpap ?

As the name implies Peter Lee is a slightly overweight father with a love of photography.

The moniker came quite innocently from his children and over time adopted by others and only fitting his entry into the photographic world would somehow incorporate the adoring name.

At only 14 Peter saved his wages from being a paperboy to purchase his first 35mm camera, a Canon AE-1.

At 17 he’d won his first national photographic competition.

Once a National Sales Manager, then owner of a boutique chocolate company, he is now a happy garbo watching the sun rise every day of the week.

But over the years he would always be shooting something, often drawing ire from those he was trying to capture. But it was just for fun and the catalogue developed through the decades speckled with a banger or two amongst the children or the dog.

It was later in life he again picked up the camera to seriously reinvent his interest in the hobby. Always done for the love and joy of it greater effort and creativity is now sunk into every image. Entire trips are woven around photographic locations and regular fluctuation between landscape, travel, astrophotography and moon chasing hone his skills on a steeper trajectory than ever. He once drove 130km to take a photograph within a window of only 1.08 seconds of something travelling 25,000km/h just over 400km away. A lot of effort, but he got it !

He does however draw the line at portraiture work. Eww.

But Fatpap still has kids to run and bills to pay so if any of his photos grab your imagination as much as they did his, consider getting a framed copy for that bare wall in your home or office. It will honestly help you and him.

“I get a great deal of enjoyment taking photographs. It’s relaxing being out on my own chasing an image to stand out from the pack. I’m not entirely sure I’ve achieved that yet, but it is fun trying.” - Fatpap.
